Day 3 TOKYO
TOKYO

Breakfast at your hotel. Meet with an English-speaking guide at the hotel, then begin a full day Tokyo sightseeing by private coach. You will visit: the observatory of the Metropolitan Government of Tokyo Shinjuku, which offers a beautiful view of the whole city; Meiji Jingu Shrine located within a stunning city park; and you will continue on to the districts of Omotesando and Harajuku. Lunch at a local restaurant.
In the afternoon walk to the Imperial Palace Square with its magnificent gardens; then the private coach will take you to Asakusa Sensoji Temple, the oldest Buddhist temple in Tokyo dedicated to Asakusa Kannon. A short walk away is the Nakamise, a shopping district full of little stalls and shops selling traditional souvenirs and sweets. We will continue on to Ginza, the most stylish fashion district in Tokyo.

Day 4 TOKYO – FUJI-KAWAGUCHIKO – MATSUMOTO
MATSUMOTO

Breakfast at your hotel. Meet with your English-speaking guide in the morning and travel by private coach. Your first stop will be the scenic Lake Kawaguchi, where you can enjoy breath-taking views of Mount Fuji. Lunch is not included. Transfer to Matsumoto and photo stop at Matsumoto castle which is a beautiful and perfectly preserved Japanese-style castle built in the 16th century.
Visit Shuzo, a Japanese sake brewery in Azumino, when you can enjoy the sampling of sake.
Arrive at Matsumoto city. Dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 5 MATSUMOTO - TAKAYAMA – SHIRAKAWA – KANAZAWA
KANAZAWA

Breakfast at your hotel. Meet with your English-speaking guide in the morning and travel by private coach. Enjoy free time in Takayama walking around the old town. Due to its previously inaccessible location nestled high in the mountainous Hida alpine region, this beautifully preserved old town was cut off from the rest of Japan, allowing it to develop its own unique culture. Lunch is not included. Transfer to Shirakawa-go. You will have free time to explore a region declared a UNESCO world heritage site in 1995, famous for its traditional Gassho-zukuri farmhouses. The roofs, made without nails, provide a large attic space used for cultivating silkworms. Arrive at Kanazawa. Dinner is not included.

Day 6 KANAZAWA – OTSU
OTSU

Breakfast at your hotel.
Meet with your English-speaking guide and begin with a sightseeing tour of Kanazawa by private coach. You will visit Kenrokuen garden, justifiably classified as one of Japan’s three most beautiful landscape gardens. You will also visit Higashi-chaya-town, a traditional tea shop district. Lunch at a local sushi restaurant. Departure for Ogoto including short photo stop at Lake Biwa, the largest lake in Japan. The ideal photo stop at Shirahige Jinja where the large vermilion-lacquered Torii gate in the middle of Lake Biwa. Arrive at hotel in Otsu. Enjoy taking hot spring at traditional Japanese style hotel, `Ryokan’.

Day 7 OTSU – KYOTO – NARA
NARA

Breakfast at your hotel. Meet with your English-speaking guide and embark on a full day excursion of ancient capital of Japan, Kyoto, by private coach. Visit: Kinkakuji Temple, the “Temple of the Golden Pavilion” covered entirely with gold leaf; Ryoan-ji Temple famous for its beautiful and mysterious zen rock garden Temple; and Nijo Castle former residence of the Tokugawa Shogun. Lunch is not included.
In the afternoon, you will visit: Kiyomizu Temple built entirely of wood. (Kiyomizudera-temple main hall is covered up for the renovation of its roof. Visitors will be able to enter the main hall during the renovations); Sanju-sangendou which is famous for its 1,001 golden Kannon statues and views of Gion-Geisha district. Transfer to Fushimi-Inari which is famous for its thousands of vermilion torii gates. Arrive at Nara. Dinner is not included.

Day 8 NARA – ISE – TOBA – YOKOHAMA
YOKOHAMA

Breakfast at your hotel. Meet with your English-speaking guide and explore Nara, one of the first capitals of Japan, by private coach. Visit Todaiji Temple, famous for its giants bronze statue of Buddha. Transfer to Ise and visit Ise shrine, the most sacred Shinto shrine and Okage Yokocho which is the traditional market street in front of the shrine. Depart for Toba and take the ferry to Irako. Enjoy the views of the beautiful Ise bay. Lunch box in Shinkansen. Ride the Shinkansen “bullet train” from Hamamatsu to Shin-Yokohama. Dinner is not included.
