Meet with your English-speaking guide for a full day sightseeing in Tokyo.

You will visit: Observatory of the Metropolitan Government of Tokyo Shinjuku which offers a beautiful view of the whole city; Meiji Jingu shrine located within the stunning city park; Photo stop at the Imperial Palace. Visit Asakusa Sensoji temple, the oldest Buddhist temple in Tokyo, dedicated to Asakusa Kannon. Walk through the Nakamise district, full of traditional stalls and little shops.

Day 3 TOKYO – KANAZAWA
KANAZAWA

We will deposit your bags (1 per person) at the hotel reception in Tokyo. Suitcases will be sent directly to your hotel in Takayama. Please prepare a carry-on bag with overnight supplies.

Meet with your English-speaking guide at your hotel and transfer to Tokyo station by private coach. Departure by Shinkansen train for Kanazawa. In the afternoon visit Kanazawa Castle and Kenrokuen, rightly classified as one of Japan’s three most beautiful landscape gardens. Photo stop at Higashichaya-town, a former geisha house district.

Day 4 KANAZAWA – SHIRAKAWAGO – TAKAYAMA

Depart to Shirakawago by private coach.

This region was declared a world heritage site in 1995. It is famous for its traditional gassho-zukuri farmhouses. The roofs, built without nails, provided a large attic space used for cultivating silkworms. Depart to Takayama by private coach. Due to its previously inaccessible location, nestled high in the mountainous Hida alpine region, this beautifully preserved old town was isolated from the rest of Japan, allowing it to develop its own unique culture. Walk around the old town with your guide.

Day 5 TAKAYAMA – KISO – ISE

Depart by private coach with your English-speaking guide to Kiso Valley.

The Nakasendo trail is the route that ran along the Kiso Valley and connected Tokyo with Kyoto during the Edo Period. Walk from Magome to Tsumago for around 2-3 hours and enjoy the beautiful scenery.

Depart to Ise with a short stop at Nagoya.

Day 6 ISE – KUMANO – ISE

Depart by private coach with your English-speaking guide to Kumano.

We visit; Kumano Nachi taisha-shrine, which is one of the three Kumano shrines, situated a few kilometres inland from the coastal hot spring resort of Katsuura. The waterfall, Nachi no Taki, is the tallest in Japan, and was originally the site of worship. Visitors will be impressed by the natural power and beauty of the falls. You will walk on the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage road (a world heritage site) that has been used by pilgrims for over 1,000 years.

Day 7 ISE – KOKA – KYOTO

Meet with your English-speaking guide.

Visit Ise Jingu shrine, the most sacred Shinto shrine and Okage Yokocho, a traditional market street in front of the shrine. Short stop at Toba and depart to Koka to visit Koka Ninja House, where you can explore and discover its various trapdoors and secret passages.

Meet with your English-speaking guide and embark on a full-day excursion with a private coach of the beautiful city of Kyoto, the cultural capital of Japan.

We will visit the: Kinkakuji temple, the “Golden Pavilion”: built as a villa for the Shogun and completely covered with gold leaf, it stands in the middle of a magnificent garden; then Nijo Castle, former residence of the Tokugawa Shogun. In the afternoon, we will visit Kiyomizu temple, built entirely of wood, which offers a magnificent panoramic view of the city and the Gion geisha district.
