We visit: Observatory of the Metropolitan Government of Tokyo Shinjuku which offers a beautiful view of the whole city; Meiji Jingu shrine located within the stunning city park, photo stop at the Imperial Palace and visit Sensoji temple (the oldest Buddhist temple in Tokyo dedicated to Asakusa Kannon). A short walk through the Nakamise, full of typical stalls and little shops and continue to Ginza, the most stylish fashion district.

Day 5 TOKYO – HIMEJI – OSAKA
OSAKA

We will deposit your bags (1 per person) at the hotel reception in Tokyo. Suitcases will be sent directly to your hotel in Osaka. Please prepare a carry-on bag with overnight supplies.

Meet with an English-speaking assistant and transfer to Tokyo station and depart by Shinkansen train to Shin-Osaka (the assistant will not ride the Shinkansen train). Meet with an English-speaking guide at Shin-Osaka station arrival platform.

Transfer to Himeji by Shinkansen train. Visit the beautiful UNESCO world heritage Himeji Castle, acclaimed as Japan’s most beautiful and complete historic citadel, known as the White Egret. The tour will continue to the adjacent Kokoen park, formerly the daimyo’s residence – a stunning park which features: a pond with a waterfall, a tea garden, a garden of pine trees, a bamboo garden and a flower garden.

Day 6 OSAKA – KYOTO – OSAKA
OSAKA

Meet with your English-speaking guide and embark on a full-day excursion with public transport to visit the beautiful city of Kyoto, the cultural capital of Japan.

We will visit: Kinkakuji temple, the “Golden Pavilion” – built as a villa for the Shogun and completely covered with gold leaf, it stands in the middle of a magnificent garden; and Nijo Castle, former residence of the Tokugawa Shogun. In the afternoon, we will visit Kiyomizu temple, built entirely of wood, which offers a magnificent panoramic view of the city and the Gion geisha district.

Visit Fushimi Inari, a famous Shinto shrine, reached after a pleasant walk through innumerable red Torii gates.

Day 7 OSAKA – HIROSHIMA – MIYAJIMA – OSAKA
OSAKA

Meet with an English-speaking guide and transfer to Hiroshima by Shinkansen train.

We will visit: the Genbaku Dome (the cupola which famously remained standing after the atomic bomb), the park and the Peace Memorial Museum by public transport. Take a ferry to the island of Miyajima and visit the Sanctuary Itsukushima shrine where the colourful buildings “float” on the water of the Inner Sea.

Meet with your English-speaking guide and transfer by public transport to Nara, one of the first capitals of Japan.

We visit: Todaiji temple, famous for the great bronze statue of Buddha; the Kasuga shrine with 3,000 lanterns, and Nara Park, where thousands of deer circulate freely.
