YUTOKU INARI SHRINE: The Yutoku Inari shrine is known as one of Japan’s three major Inari and fondly referred to as “Yutoku san” by the locals. The shrine was founded in 1687. It was built by the Nabeshima clan, thew fullers of saga at the time. With its impressive and ornately decorated structure, Yutoku Inari shrine attracts thousands of visitors a year.

GALLERY ARITA: The sight of 2000 coffee cups lined up along the walls will surely attract you. Guests who order a hot beverage can choose the cup they want to drink from among the ones displayed.

GEN-EMON KILN: Gen-emon Kiln has preserved the tradition of “Old Imari” by producing beautiful porcelain. Seeing the craftsmen working, you can observe the whole creation process from the shaping to the painting.

KARATSU CASTLE: Karatsu castle was built in 1608. Located in the northern part of the city and facing the sea, Karatsu castle is also known as Maizuru (Dancing Crane) castle as it resembles the figure of a bird : its wings spread wide as there is a pine grove extending left to right, and the donjon (tower keep) is thought to look like the head of the crane. In spring, there is a beautiful sight with the 500 cherry trees and wisteria flowers in full bloom.

YOBUKO MORNING MARKET: Yobuko Morning Market is one of the three major morning markets in Japan. In a typical Japanese atmosphere, about 40 to 60 stalls are lined up selling fresh and dried seafood, vegetables, fruits and other items.

NANATSUGAMA SIGHTSEEING CRUISE: Nanatsugama Sightseeing Cruise “Ikamaru” is a sightseeing boat tour which departs from Yobuko Port and heads toward the eastern tip of Yobuko, where the Nanatsugama Caves are located.
